QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

When you’re looking for a photographer to capture this special stage, there are many things to think about. These are some questions you should ask your newborn photographer. It’s likely that this is the first time a stranger will hold your baby. Therefore, it’s crucial to choose someone you can trust to take your baby’s pictures. These questions will help you determine if you are a good fit for a photographer.

Safety And Experience

When searching for a photographer, your baby’s safety must be top of mind. To avoid putting your baby in danger, you will want to ensure that the photographer you choose has had experience with newborn photography. These are great questions that will help you assess a photographer’s safety and experience.

Are You A Safety Trained?

Yes. Christina Louise, a safety expert in the industry, has the safety knowledge for your photoshoot.

How Can You Make Sure That Your Newborn Safety Is A Top Priority In Your Business?

My studio is committed to safety for your baby. When necessary, I will use a spotter and never leave your baby alone. When photographing babies, I use the neck strap of my camera. Although I won’t climb on a ladder to take overhead shots of your baby, I will make composites for larger aerial settings. To ensure that babies are safe and supported, Photoshop is used.

Are You Able To Safely Perform Difficult Poses Using Composite Techniques?

Yes. Baby is supported in the Potato Sack pose and Chin on Hands. The baby is not suspended in the air to take a swing shot, or placed high on props stacked high. In Photoshop, I remove support arms. Composites are also possible for overhead shots. This would mean that I have to be above the baby in order to capture the whole setup. It is never worth putting your baby at risk. There are safe ways to get those poses.

Is The Studio Cleaned After Each Session?

Yes, always! All linens used in sessions are washed using hypoallergenic detergent. All rompers, bonnets, and tiebacks are hand washed. I spray the props with disinfectant and then wipe them down. Everything the baby touches is removed before it can be put away again.

Studio, Logistics, And Process

Knowing what to expect from your session is important. These questions will help you to understand the business model of your photographer.

How Are Your Pricing Structures?

Your due date will be reserved for you by paying a small fee. The creative fee covers my time, talent, and designing a session that is tailored to your needs. It also includes creating wall art and album mockups for you to choose from and scheduling an appointment. You can also use the props, wraps, and outfits available in the studio. Once your gallery is completed, I will invite you back into the studio to purchase portraits that you love in the format that suits your needs, either as wall art, albums, or digital archive files.

What Is The Duration Of The Session?

Two types of newborn sessions are offered by me: Petite Wrapped Sessions and Elite Newborn Sessions.

Sessions for the elite may last between 2 and 4 hours.

Petite Wrapped Sessions can last up to one hour.

Are Siblings And Parents Posing In The Session?

The Newborn session includes sibling and parent posing (with baby’s immediate family), while Petite Wrapped sessions don’t.

Are you able to provide props, wraps, backdrops or other items? What should I bring to my session with me? I have everything you need for your session. Bring your baby’s pacifier, formula, wipes, and diapers.

When Can I See The Portraits Of My Baby?

I will invite you back to my studio for your Selection and Organization. Appointment a few weeks after your portrait session. Here is where all the work we have done comes to life. It’s fun with treats, a slideshow, and an album mockup. My method makes it simple to display your favorite images in a home so that you can have them every day.

Are you able to provide a Prep or Welcome Guide that will help us understand what to expect during our session?

Yes, I have both. Please contact me to receive the Welcome Guide.
